My interest in jewellery began in my teens when I made and wore huge necklaces of dyed melon and pumpkin seeds, acorn cups and any beads I could find. Portobello market was a good source of broken necklaces which were the beginning of my extensive bead collection. In the 1960’s I studied fashion at St Martins but when I discovered it was possible to train as a jeweller I transferred to the Central School of Art.
I taught jewellery at The Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute for over thirty years. During that time I also taught at Crouch End Art School and the Hampstead School of Art, ran workshops and gave private lessons.
I love creating textures in silver and have developed a keen interest in the semi-precious stones and minerals available to jewellers. I try to find odd shapes and cuts of stones and beads and design my pieces around them.
It is impossible to describe the pleasure of meeting someone by chance who is wearing one of my pieces.
